was born in 1988 in Los Angeles, California. She received her BFA in photography at the School of Visual Arts in New York City. Balzary creates large-scale color photographs, oscillating between intimate, diaristic scenes of her personal life, and a more detached, composed view of the Western social landscape á la Stephen Shore and Joel Sternfeld. Her body of work continues to grow, and straddle the worlds of commercial and conceptual work, citing artists like Collier Schorr and Jeurgen Teller as influences in the language of such a malleable genre. She currently resides in Los Angeles, where she is working on a large-format, documentary project on the city.
