is a Dominican painter. He dabbles in painting, illustration and photography. Although ‘dabbles’ probably isn’t the best word for it; he’s really, really good at all three. There’s not a lot of information about Pena on the internets (his biography reads “Still in progress.”) so it seems his artworks speak for themselves. His paintings are created in a pseudo-lowbrow style and depict grown men in Batman masks playing with ray-guns, kooky ladies swimming, self-portraits and kids in Darth Vader helmets. Some of his works seem inspired by Flemish portraiture – a darkly dressed, serious looking couple, painted carefully but almost blotchy (probably inaccurately conjured up similarities to Cornelis Aerentsz van der Dussen).
