Kim Keever

is a New York based artist. He creates intriguing abstract photographs through an experimental exploration of form and color. Keever began his art career in the New York City of the 1970s, surrounded by the weirdo glamor of Warhol’s Studio, the emerging art of subway graffiti, and the novel sounds of Grandmaster Flash and disco. He spent nearly two decades as a traditional painter and printmaker until he discovered the style and subject that would become his trademark in 1991. To create each piece, the artist drops colorful paint pigments into a huge aquarium tank and then simply documents the interaction of liquids. The unpredictable process leads to beautifully abstract creations that look like billowing fabric, underwater creatures, and splatters of paint across a canvas. With a touch of imagination, viewers may begin to create narratives based on what they see.
