Ryan Humphrey

is a British illustrator. His work consists of detailed moleskine sketchbooks that he covers pages with figures he creates from vast amount of second hand imagery. After he selects imagery from different locations and eras, he goes about ‘forming’ his own scenario, which is an alchemical and tentative process. He’s careful to leave his viewer room to speculate upon their own narrative, this is important to him. He’s hoping that he can extrude and expand upon the resource of emotion and information this found photography gives to him. He uses expressive colour in such a way that it’s described as ‘painting with pencils’
