is an American painter. He was born in 1985 and grew up in Ithaca, New York. He completed his BS at Cornell University and started his career as an interaction designer at digital agencies in New York City. There he began his artistic practice.
Thomas Hammer’s works are juxtapositions in texture, gesture, geometry, and color. He often begins works with sketches that explore the physical and optical qualities of his materials before composing final works. The resulting drawings and paintings present harmony, chaos and a sense of momentum. Like a film still, they depict both being and becoming. His work has been included in exhibitions across the country and has been purchased by collectors internationally.
